PRESIDENT, ARCHITECT EXPERT WITNESS

Since forming Chase A+EP, Mr. Chase has served as a forensic architectural expert witness and consultant, as well as an arbitrator and mediator for the construction industry. He launched Forensic Architecture: Plaintiff & Defendant© in 2021 to help architects run their firms and better prepare documents to avoid legal issues.

2006 – 2009

Song & Associates, Inc.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, ARCHITECT-OF-RECORD

Leaving semi-retirement for a three-year contract to become Song & Associates’ first CFO, Mr. Chase managed day-to-day operations and served as principal-in-charge, interior design manager, and architect-of-record on selected projects. In 2009, David led the design team for the new West Palm Beach City Center, a $100M civic campus. Recognized for perpetuating the diversity of its citizens, the project received the Urban Land Institute Vision Award and the International Downtown Association Award of Distinction.

1997 – 2003

Hillier International, Inc.

PRESIDENT, CEO, PRINCIPAL-IN-CHARGE

Mr. Chase joined the 450-person Hillier Group as its president to reorganize and manage its purchase of a regional firm. After one year, he was promoted to COO of Hillier’s Princeton, NJ office and then elevated by the board to president and CEO. As principal-in-charge, president, and CEO, he led the conception and fulfillment of the $72M New York State, Niagara Falls High School, Jorge Luacas, AIA, designer.

DIVISION MANAGER, ARCHITECT-OF-RECORD

With the merger of Chase Architectural Associates with L. Robert Kimball Architects & Engineers, Mr. Chase created a new service sector and division for the firm in health care, residential, educational, and commercial projects in NY, NJ, and PA.

PRESIDENT & FOUNDER, ARCHITECT-OF-RECORD

A licensed architect with a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University School of Architecture, a Master of Science degree from Columbia, and a Diploma from École des Beaux-Arts, Mr. Chase started his own architecture firm in 1972 which grew to become a 50-person firm with two offices in New York and a third in Cairo, Egypt. In a joint venture between Chase Architectural Associates and King & King Architects, David designed the $20M, 524-bed Van Duyn Home and Hospital in Syracuse, NY which earned the American Institute of Concrete Award in 1980.
