About

50+ YEARS AN ARCHITECT
20 YEARS AN EXPERT WITNESS & ARBITRATOR

Designer, entrepreneur, mentor, award-winning architect, president, CEO, and expert witness—David Erik Chase’s admirable career has shaped the lives and creative works of numerous architects and other building professionals. Ask anyone who has worked with him and they will tell you, he is the epitome of architectural design creativity, performance excellence, and business integrity. The consummate professional, David continues to work tirelessly to ensure others will evolve with every opportunity to succeed and the industry continues to thrive. After a long career as an architectural designer, architect-of-record, and principal-in-charge, he embarked on a new passion some 20 years ago, when he anticipated a need for expert credible opinion and testimony to help plaintiffs and defendants in his industry.

Professional Background and Expertise

David earned his Bachelor of Science degree in architecture from Syracuse University in 1964, a Diploma in architectural design from the École des Beaux-Arts in Fontainebleau, France in 1966, and a Master of Science in architecture from Columbia University in 1969. In 1972, he founded Chase Architectural Associates with offices in Syracuse and Suffern, NY and Cairo, Egypt. During the next 20 years, his 50-person firm designed over $2B of constructed projects including health care and educational facilities, housing (multi-family, residential, and senior citizen/assisted living), and commercial and large scale PUDs. After 20 years, he merged his firm with L. Robert Kimball Architects and Engineers, a large regional practice. David joined Hillier International Architects in 1997 to become the president and CEO of the fifth largest architectural firm in the USA (at the time). During this seven-year period, he also acted as Hillier’s principle-in-charge of several K-12 projects in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. In 2003 David formed CHASE A+EP, P.C. to offer Architect Expert services and became a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Mediator and Qualified Arbitrator.
